2018 Buzgon Law Offices College Scholarship Award

The winner of the 2018 Buzgon Davis Law Offices Scholarship is Ms. Jalissa Nolt.  Ms. Nolt is a graduating senior at Eastern Lebanon County High School. She is captain of the cross country, basketball, and track & field teams as well as president of class council, treasurer of Future Business Leaders of America, a yearbook editor, Freshmen Forward member, and also is involved with French Club, Youth for Christ, and Raiders Read. She is vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of French Honor Society and the Quill and Scroll Honor Society.  Ms. Nolt is a leader for the youth cross country, youth girls’ basketball, and youth track & field programs and helped with math competitions and science presentations at the Intermediate School.  She was Junior Class Marshal, District Student of the Month, recipient of L-L League Cross Country and Basketball Scholar Athlete Award, the Kiwanis Club Scholar Athlete Award, and received the Excellence in Education Award.  She attends church and youth group where she raised money for COBY’S Bike and Hike and will be attending a mission’s trip in South Carolina this summer. She has worked as a lifeguard at the Myerstown Community Pool and currently works at a local dairy farm.  Ms. Nolt plans to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene at Northampton Community College and then work in public health and provide oral care for underdeveloped countries in Africa.

 

The $3,000.00 Buzgon Davis Scholarship is given to a graduating senior from one of the seven district schools. The selection criterion includes (a) class rank (the student must be in the top 20% of the class, (b) essay-writing and (3) personal interview. Each school submits its top essay to the Buzgon Davis scholarship committee who then rates the essays for each candidate as well as the personal interviews with the top three finalist candidates.

 

The topic for this year was WHY SHOULD ONE PLANT THEIR ROOTS IN THE LEBANON VALLEY?

 

Ms. Jalissa Nolt, accompanied by her parents, M/M Dann Nolt, was presented with the first installment of her scholarship at a luncheon held at Hidden Still Spirits on May 17, 2018.  The attorneys in order from left to right are Mr. Jason J. Schibinger, Mr. Edward J. Coyle, Mr. Bernerd A. Buzgon, Ms. Jalissa Nolt, Ms. Peggy M. Morcom, Ms. Anita Nolt, Mr. David R. Warner, Jr., Ms. Kelly A. Kramer, and Mr. Dann Nolt.  Not pictured are Mr. Timothy J. Huber, Mr. Scott L. Grenoble, Mr. Michael S. Bechtold, Mr. Bret M. Wiest, and Mr. Joseph A. Crowe.
