Driving Under Suspension

Living without a driver’s license when you’re used to having one is a significant adjustment, and it’s not always immediately doable for many people. Depending on your responsibilities, you may rely on transporting yourself and your family to work, school, extracurriculars and much more. In many ways, the mistake that led to you losing your license can affect your life for months or even years to come. You may not see a way out, but at Buzgon Davis Law Offices, we may have a solution.

How Many Points Does It Take to Lose a License in PA?

There are many reasons why someone may have their license suspended in Pennsylvania. In most cases, it takes an accrual of six points or more for a license to be suspended. You receive points based on unsafe actions you may take while driving — such as speeding, which can be two or three points depending on the situation, or running a red light, which is three points. While the point system is designed to give you warnings and chances to change your behavior before getting your license suspended, there are certain behaviors that may result in an immediate license suspension or revocation, such as:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
  • Committing a felony involving a vehicle, including vehicular manslaughter.
  • Fleeing the scene of a crime or from a police officer.
  • Failing to stop for a school bus or at a railroad barrier.
  • Driving when your license is already suspended.
