What You Want to Know About Bankruptcy

There are many ways of achieving financial independence. In many cases, our attorneys can successfully negotiate with your creditors to reduce or eliminate interest charges on accumulated debt. At times, debt consolidation and interest elimination can accomplish the same effect as bankruptcy, without the limitations that bankruptcy implies.

However, when appropriate, bankruptcy can provide a person who cannot pay his or her bills a fresh start. Bankruptcy may allow you to discharge most or all of your bills or get more time to pay bills. It may also allow you to keep property that otherwise may have been lost to creditors.

There are two common types of bankruptcies people consider, Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Generally, under Chapter 7, debts are discharged, sometimes in exchange for property. Under Chapter 13, debts are generally repaid, but over a longer period of time than what you would normally have to pay those debts.

Whether you are falling behind on your auto or mortgage payments or are unable to pay your credit cards or medical bills, we can help.
